Fran from Love/Hate is back... in this new Irish movie

The first clip from King of the Travellers shows a sulky race on Dublin streets.

PETER COONAN – AKA Fran the Man from Love/Hate – is back in a new Irish movie centred around the Traveller community.

King Of The Travellers also stars Michael Collins of Man About Dog and features music from Damien Dempsey.

It will be released in cinemas on April 19.

Here’s the plot synopsis:

King of the Travellers follows John Paul Moorehouse (John Connors) on his destructive quest to uncover the truth about the killer of his father 12 years ago. John Paul’s desire for revenge is swayed as he falls for Winnie Power, the daughter of the man he suspects killed his father. John Paul must now battle between his consuming passion for justice versus his desire to be with the woman he loves.

The movie also stars a number of Traveller non-actors. Director Mark O’Connor said it would be “entertaining for audiences, as well as being of cultural importance to the Traveller community”.

Here’s the opening scene from the movie – a sulky race on the streets of Dublin. (We can’t tell if Peter Coonan’s in it because the drivers are wearing bags on their heads.)
