A Tipperary woman also called Frances Fitzgerald is having a tough time on Twitter today

“Please let this sh*tshow end.”

AFTER DAYS OF controversy and speculation, Tánaiste Frances Fitzgerald has resigned.

And about time too, because the 27-year-old University of Limerick graduate who shares her name is getting to the end of her tether.

She’s been getting bombarded with tweets by disgruntled members of the public who’ve mistaken her account for that of her political namesake:

Please let this sh*tshow end. I’m tired of being tagged in political tweets and being mistaken for a 67-year-old woman…

Speaking to the Limerick Leader, the other Frances Fitzgerald said it all started when a political journalist mistakenly mentioned her handle in a tweet about the former Tánaiste.

Since then, people have been demanding both a statement and a resignation from her:

It obviously wasn’t a huge deal, but I’ve lost track of how many times I’ve had to reply saying something along the lines of “Wrong Frances Fitzgerald”.

She is receiving some sympathy from Niall Horan and Stephen Donnelly, two men who also share names with Irish public figures.

If you’re looking to get in touch with the former Tánaiste, may we direct you to @FitzgeraldFrncs. Leave the other Frances Fitz off. It’s been a day.
