LAST NIGHT, THE second episode of RTÉ’s The Pet Surgeons returned to our screens – and there was one elderly Labrador that absolutely stole the show.
Frankie, from Waterford, was brought in to see vet Síle because he’d been having trouble breathing.
But first, we got a bit of a back story on him, and he’s just the most adorable dog:
Walking Frankie on the beach one day, his owner Colm discovered that the old boy has an expensive taste in refreshements.
Yes, he loves San Pellegrino
One warm summer’s day, he developed a taste for it:
“I had a bottle of Pellegrino sparking water with me and he took to it, and drank the rest of the bottle of course leaving me parched with the thirst. He really does have expensive tastes, this dog – probably the costliest dog in the whole of County Waterford”
So Síle got to work to see what was wrong with Frankie
They discovered that Frankie’s breathing difficulties were worse than they first thought
The fact that Frankie has a day family that look after him while his real family at work was just adorable
As one of the vets said: “All day long he has people that adore him.”
“The first time I heard that there was this dog that was drinking Pellegrino – which is so expensive and I didn’t even try it in my life because it’s too expensive to buy – so I said I had to meet that dog. And yeah, I can see why he gets Pellegrino”
They got to Frankie in the nick of time though – if Colm hadn’t brought him in he was only a few hours away from death.
But the vets got him back to the point that he’s no longer in pain from the breathing
People were delighted Frankie was OK
Dogs around Ireland were wishing him the best
Ah HERE.
And he even had a bit of a starring role on Saturday Night With Miriam earlier in the summer
A happy ending for the aodrable Lab
Let’s all chip in for a lifetime supply of San Pellegrino <3
