DUBLIN IS A city populated with many a fine pub snug – like Slattery’s, Stag’s Head and Kehoes to name just a few.
But there’s one that consistently ranks higher with drinkers for sheer snug quality.
And that’s the front snug in Toners on Baggot Street
The pews inside feel like they are straight out of a church
And the massive window means you’re bathed in light – unlike other snugs around the place
It’s a world away from the busy Baggot Street outside
And just one of the finest spots in Dublin for a quiet pint
The snug was a firm favourite of WB Yeats, according to the pub themselves:
the snug is said to be the only place he would drink when he took an occasional tipple
Not bad company to keep, really
Although it doesn’t mean that your chat will turn into world class poetry after a few pints
But we can still celebrate the quaint glory of this small piece of Dublin pub perfection
Sip ‘em in style
