Fugitive caught after phoning sheriff for assistance

The unlucky motorist was wanted for violating parole on a murder and escape conviction in Georgia when he ran out of petrol – and called for roadside assistance.

A 59-YEAR-OLD US fugitive is back behind bars tonight after he ran out of petrol in Wyoming – and called the local sheriff’s office for roadside assistance.

The Wyoming Highway Patrol said today that Richard Vincent of Prineville, Oregon, was wanted in Georgia for violating parole on a murder and escape conviction.

Vincent called the Uinta County Sheriff’s Office, which sent state troopers to help him out. When they learned that Vincent had an outstanding felony warrant from Atlanta, Georgia, he was taken into custody.

Vincent is now being held for Georgia authorities pending extradition.
