Fungi the Dolphin is alive and well

The Internet tried to kill off the Kerry attraction overnight.

CONTRARY TO RUMOURS floating about Twitter overnight, Fungi the Dolphin is alive and well.

All is OK with the world. And Kerry tourism.

A spokeswoman for Dingle Dolphin Boat Tours told DailyEdge.ie that the impossibly-ancient creature is doing just fine.

“I was out there last night and he’s definitely alive,” she said.

Asked how she could be so sure it was him, the boat operator explained that Fungie has distinctive markings such as a triangular-shaped nick on this fin.

The Harbour Office also confirmed to DailyEdge.ie that there was no truth to the Internet rumours. Although no boats have gone out onto the water yet this morning, the spokesperson said that the dolphin’s remains did not wash up on the beach, as was claimed on Twitter this morning.

And just to copper-fasten it, Kerry County Council has also moved to quash the rumours, tweeting:

Despite all the rumours doing the rounds on Twitter, Fungie the Dolphin is alive and well #Fungie

So, all these people can just calm down.
