CANADIAN ASTRONAUT, NOTED legend and Irish media darling Chris Hadfield was the standout guest on The Ray D’Arcy Show last night.

And his appearance didn’t disappoint.

One of the best moments was when Irish kids Emily and Joshua arrived out on the couch and told him they wanted to follow in his footsteps

Joshua came fully decked out in his space suit, just in case he got the call.

And Emily came straight out with her ambition:

I’d love to be the first female astronaut.

For any Irish kid who ever thought they could make it, it was a dream come true to meet the world famous Hadfield

And the rest of the interview with the retired Commander was just as good – as he explained how the space agencies are always on the lookout for other forms of life

We’ll never get bored of listening to him talk about his favourite subjects

The sheer enthusiasm comes across in everything he says

The audience at home were loving it

And for the morning that’s in it, with Chris still in Dublin for a talk at the Bord Gáis Theatre, we can enjoy his version of Space Oddity one more time
