YOU’VE PROBABLY SEEN posters for Sacha Baron Cohen’s latest comedy Grimsby dotted around the place.
The poster features Sacha Baron Cohen flanked by co-stars Gabourey Sidibe and Rebel Wilson.
However, the poster hasn’t sat well with everyone. (And it’s not because of Sacha Baron Cohen’s frankly offensive sock-and-sandal ensemble.)
As you can see, the film lists five cast members — Sacha Baron Cohen, Isla Fisher, Mark Strong, Rebel Wilson and Penélope Cruz.
But Gabourey Sidibe’s name? Nowhere to be seen.
Which is kind of odd because she is (a) featured very prominently in the film’s marketing materials and (b) she’s an Oscar-nominated actress.
You would think that being nominated for an Academy Award, BAFTA, Golden Globe and SAG Award might ensure your name at least gets mentioned on movie posters, but apparently not!
During a recent interview with Flavourmag, Sidibe made clear that it was not her call.
That is nowhere near my decision. I have nothing to do with it. When I took that picture, you know, it’s superimposed. Rebel wasn’t even there, so I don’t have anything to do with it. I didn’t know that I would be on the poster. That definitely is a question for Sony.
You’ve got some explaining to do, Sony.
