Gallery: One man's quest to be the most embarrassing dad in the world
THEY SAY LOVE takes many forms, but dressing up in a different costume to wave your mortified teenage son off to school every single day is really pushing the envelope.
Each morning for the past year, proud dad Dale Price dressed as a different character then stood outside waving as his 16-year-old son Rain took the bus to high school. In rig-outs including a blushing bride, a chicken and Michael Jackson, he managed the entire 170 days of the school year (which finished last week) without once repeating a costume.
It all started on the first day of school in their home town of American Fork, Utah, when Dale happened to wave at the bus in his normal clothes. “And then after school my brother’s like, ‘don’t let Dad ever do that again,’” Rain’s elder sister Rikki, 19, told ABC News. “So, my dad kind of took that as a challenge.”
Dale spent less than $50 on costumes and props along the way, according to a final post on a blog set up by Rain’s amused mother Rochelle to document the outfits. He even incorporated his own prosthetic limb into his final, triumphant rig-out: a peg-legged pirate.
So without further ado, here’s a selection of Wave-At-The-Bus-Dad’s greatest hits:
