This Galway girl's Mam went to extreme (and hilarious) lengths to share a Facebook post with her

“This is you for sure, Laura.”

LAURA BEIRNE IS a commerce student in NUI Galway, who is currently spending a semester abroad in Columbus State University, Georgia.

So far, it’s been quite the learning experience.

I have to tell you a few questions I have been asked so far: How is your Irish so good? Do y’all have iPhones in Ireland? Do you know Drake? Do you know what beer pong is?

This is Laura’s first time living away from home, and she misses her Mam terribly. “Me and my mum are so so close, we talk literally every day,” she told us.

Laura and her Mam communicate mostly via Facebook chat. “She gets so annoyed when the connection goes bad, it’s actually the most comical thing,” she said.

Like most Mams, Laura’s Mam is guilty of committing a few Facebook faux pas every now and then.

She does simple things wrong on Facebook. I said I’ll give her three strikes when it comes to social media, she has two strikes now. She added my friend on Facebook then messaged her to ask her to delete her as a friend because she didn’t know how to.

And apparently she’s not familiar with the art of tagging someone in a comment.

Laura recently received a care package from her Mam, which contained essentials like clothes. Tucked inside the package was a motivational quote that her Mam had printed from Facebook.

Success is not measured by what you accomplish but by the opposition you have encountered, and the courage with which you have maintained the struggle against overwhelming odds.

As you can see, she didn’t crop the image. Just printed it out from Facebook as it was.

She also included a little message on the reverse.

This is you for sure, Laura.

Laura told DailyEdge.ie that it was a “complete surprise” and that she struggled to contain her laughter when she first received it.

I posted it on Snapchat and got so many replies from people saying how funny it was and saying I had to share it! I know loads of young people my age can relate to this. We all have that one auntie that comments on everything or that mum that likes absolutely everything!

As for where the poster is now?

I have it hung up above my bed to remind me of her and it always makes me laugh.

D’aw.
