DRINKING AND FEASTING are major pastimes for the characters of Game of Thrones – just look at Tyrion Lannister, the self-proclaimed “god of t*ts and wine”.
It’s only right, then, that someone has finally opened up a bar dedicated to the series.
Blood & Wine is an event from The Pop Up Geeks, an Edinburgh-based bunch of pop culture fans who organise a different pop-up bar in the city every month.
Every Wednesday and Thursday night, the basement of the Daylight Robbery pub in the city is transformed into a banquet hall fit for Westeros, with a drinks menu to match.
Look at it:
There are nods to Game of Thrones everywhere, from a ‘Valyrian steel’ sword and House Stark shield…
…To the drinks themselves, which are all named for characters and locations in the series.
There’s even food in the form of Frey pies (though we don’t know how wild you’d be to eat one of those):
The bar is running until the end of February, so good news for the smuggos who planned Edinburgh minibreaks for themselves during the bleakest months of the year. Bottoms up!
