Gangnam Style is no longer the most watched video on YouTube and everything is terrible

All good things must come to an end

THEY SAY CHANGE is a good thing – the only thing certain in life.

‘Variety is the spice of life’, all that jazz.

But there are certain certainties, if you will, that keep the world in balance, and our troubles at bay.

These are things that we can always rely on during volatile times.

Like, knowing that Psy’s Gangnam Style remains the most watched video on YouTube.

Except that, it isn’t. Not anymore.

Yep. Over two billion views later, Psy has been callously overthrown, by none other than Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth’s See You Again.

How did we let something like this happen? Monsters.

Gangnam Style was once so popular that it broke YouTube’s play counter and the company had to rewrite their code, which now allows a maximum of over nine quintillion plays.

See You Again was released in March 2015 for the seventh instalment of The Fast & The Furious franchise, Furious 7.

The death of one of the film’s lead actors, Paul Walker, added extra poignancy to the track.

It was the UK’s fifth biggest single of 2015, finishing ahead of Adele’s Hello and Justin Bieber’s Sorry, having spent two weeks at number one.

HOWEVER.

Justice could well be served soon, by Justin Bieber and some Puerto Ricans no less.

Yes, Despacito is galloping ahead in terms of views, notching up almost 2.5 billion views in less than six months. It’s currently the world’s fifth most-watched video.

Whoever inevitably comes out on top, let us NEVER FORGET who was there before.
