Are the gardaí so strapped for cash that they can't afford bike locks?

Can this photo possibly be real?

THIS PHOTO WAS posted on Twitter this morning. Are the gardaí really that broke?

So, is it real? It’s not clear when or where in Ireland it was taken. A quick Google reveals that it hasn’t been posted before. And there isn’t obvious evidence of Photoshopping.

However, photo evidence would suggest that these aren’t the kind of handcuffs used by the actual, real gardaí.

So it may be that somebody just took some joke handcuffs and appropriated a Garda bike with them. In which case, that’s definitely not big or clever and we don’t approve. Not at all.
