The Gardaí took on a very tiny and very adorable recruit yesterday

His name’s Ceejay and he’s the boss.

THIS IS YOUNG Ceejay McArdle from Castleblayney, Co Monaghan.

According to the North East Metro, Ceejay was sadly diagnosed with Leukaemia last September at only two years of age, and will be undergoing treatment for the next few years.

But he’s still determined to be a Garda recruit – and yesterday, he visited Garda HQ in Phoenix Park to become an honorary officer for the day.

He was kitted out in a tiny uniform (and massive hat)…

He performed with the Garda Band…

And hung out with the dogs.

The Gardaí posted Ceejay’s exploits on Twitter – many people were concerned that he might be a bit young to be a recruit, but the Gardaí assured them that an exemption “was sought and received from the Commissioner”. Ahh.

Good man, Ceejay!

(Ceejay and his family receive loads of support from the children’s cancer charity Aoibheann’s Pink Tie – you can donate to them here.)
