People were quick to point out that this GBBO contestant's map of Britain included Ireland

MAPS, MAPS, MAPS.
Much like Destiny’s Child’s approach to bills, maps are very important to Ireland thanks to, you know, history – and this week proved it once more.
First Dara Ó Briain had to call out BBC News for putting Ireland in a map that appeared to exclude us from the EU. Then The Late Late Show got in bother for erasing Northern Ireland from a map on Friday night.
Now, to complete the trio, Channel 4′s Great British Bake Off rolled in last night with another map-based faux pas.
Contestant Chris presented his “Great British Sail Off” cookie to the judges… but something seemed slightly amiss to anyone who knew their geography

Ah yes, there’s the whole island of Ireland included in what should be a map of “Britain”. Just a *little* outdated.
This wasn’t going to pass without comment

Maybe Chris was sending us a message from an alternate political future
There was legitimate annoyance at the lack of geographical awareness
And how such things play into the use of “British Isles”
Not to mention the fact that Ireland had drifted WAY north

The response from Irish people watching? Two thumbs down
Was it the reason Chris got eliminated? No, but some thought it was somewhat fitting
Whoops!
