CINDY CRAWFORD’S HUSBAND Rande Gerber, a businessman and close friend of George Clooney, has revealed that there are some major benefits to being friends with Clooney.
Gerber spilled the tea to MSNBC about a surprise gift Clooney gave to 14 of his best friends in 2013.
Gerber, and the rest of the lads in George Clooney’s friend group which is referred to by the men as ‘The Boys’, (it sounds like a Whatsapp group – and probably is) received a phonecall from George. He said:
Hey, mark the 27th of September on your calendar. Everyone’s going to come to my house for dinner.
They arrived to find that a briefcase was placed at each of their tables. George turned to his pals and explained “It’s really important to me that, while we’re still all here together, that I give back.”
Listen, I want you guys to know how much you’ve meant to me and how much you mean to me in my life. I came to L.A., I slept on your couch. I’m so fortunate in my life to have all of you and I couldn’t be where I am today without all of you.
Clooney’s friends, The Boys, all opened their briefcases to find $1 million (in $20 notes) and Gerber says they were in complete shock. George then said:
I know we’ve all been through some hard times, some of you are still going through it. You don’t have to worry about your kids, you don’t have to worry about school, you don’t have to worry about paying your mortgage.
On top of all of that, Rande says that George paid all of The Boys’ taxes for the year. The actor’s net worth with his wife amounted to €137 million in 2015 (although, it’s probably a lot more now, since he sold his tequila brand Casamigos – which was co-founded with Rande Gerber – for €851 million).
Sure he wouldn’t even notice €14 million missing from it. And he reportedly acted like an Irish grandparent about it too, refusing to take no for an answer, according to Gerber.
