George Michael postpones tour dates as he battles illness

The singer is suffering from severe pneumonia.

GEORGE MICHAEL HAS cancelled all the remaining dates of his European Symphonica tour because of an ongoing battle with pneumonia.

The singer said it was “with great sadness” that he had to postpone the UK dates of the tour but has done so on medical advice.

Michael has been hospitalised with severe pneumonia but doctors say his condition is stable and he is responding to treatment.

No estimated recovery time has been given to the 48-year-old. He remains in the Medical University Hospital in Vienna, Austria.

In a statement on his website, organisers of the tour said:

Discussions and preparations are currently under way in order to arrange the rescheduled dates and further announcements will be made at the earliest opportunity. In the meantime, tickets holders are asked to retain their tickets.

aggbugThe former Wham! singer had 14 dates - between today and 19 December - remaining on his busy tour schedule. All of them were to take place in the UK.
