Here's why George Takei asked the internet to give the finger to Alabama last night
ON TUESDAY, THE Alabama Supreme Court temporarily stopped issuing marriage licences to same sex couples.
The news came as a blow to many in the LGBT community, not least Star Trek actor/wonderful human George Takei.
Last night, the actor had enough and took this photo with his husband.
Takei and his husband can be seen giving the finger — well, the wedding finger — to the state of Alabama. He encouraged fellow couples to do the same.
The hashtag took off in no time with gay and straight couples alike posting selfies.

The power of George Takei, eh?
The actor has been an outspoken LGBT activist since he publicly came out in 2005. He has been married to his husband Brad since 2008.
