Here's the note Gerry Ryan sent Ian Dempsey on his first day at RTÉ in 1980

“Just a little note…”

THIRTY-FIVE YEARS ago yesterday, Ian Dempsey joined RTÉ to present The Weekend Breakfast Show on 2FM.

On that day, his colleague Gerry Ryan – who had joined the station a year earlier – sent him this encouraging welcome note.
