WHEN ALANA DURAN met her Lori Interlicchio on Tinder, she probably expected a date, not a well-needed kidney donation. But you never know how things will work out, do you?
Interlicchio recently surprised Duran with a box of goodies including sweets, stationery, and Star Wars memorabilia.
But there was a very special extra gift. At the bottom of the box, Interlicchio had placed a print out of the Tinder ‘It’s a match!’ page - with the news that she was able to donate a kidney to Duran.
“Tattoos are cool but I’d rather get matching scars,” the card read.
Duran suffers from lupus, and has been waiting for a kidney donor since 2011. She wrote on Facebook:
It’s been four years and no luck yet UNTIL a little while back my wonderfully amazing girlfriend Lori Interlicchio went and got tested to see if she was a match to donate a kidney to me. It turns out she is!
“Who knew that when we both swiped right on Tinder that day that we would be more than just girlfriends, but that she would be my kidney donor!”
Interlicchio told BuzzFeed that the couple plan to schedule the surgery for February. Congrats!
