
A NEW WEBSITE which gives holiday makers tips on destinations based on the attractiveness of the local women is coming in for criticism.
GirlsOnAMap.com encourages users to upload pictures of women – either from their local area, or women they’ve encountered while travelling – and allows other users to rate their “hotness”.
The site calls itself an “online wingman” and is aimed at “bachelors”, according to its press release.
It goes on to say that:
In addition to offering insights on women, users from around the world are able to rate the approachability and promiscuity levels of girls around the world.
The site has come in for criticism on Twitter, and yesterday an online campaign to upload images related to the doge meme saw the ‘hottest girls in the world’ replaced by Shibu Inu dogs.
However, administrators of the site quickly removed the pictures.
Kevin Leu, the founder and CEO of GirlsOnAMap has responded to criticism via Twitter, saying he’s a feminist. He was engaging with an individual whose picture had been uploaded without their permission.
The image was removed, Leu said, in accordance with the site’s terms of service, which stipulate that users must not infringe on the copyright of a third party when uploading images.
In a blogpost on GirlsOnAMap.com in October Leu said that he started the site based on the belief that “the internet is full of lurkers”. He said that he wanted to create a site which encouraged interaction. Therefore when a user of the site sees a woman he (or she) likes the look of, they must first rate her attractiveness.
The main cities in Ireland have yet to be rated on the site. Rio de Janeiro and Reykjavik are currently the top rated locations.
