ONE OF THE most influential and prolific figures in music, David Bowie, turns 65 today.

The global superstar has achieved a staggering amount throughout a decades-long career that has spanned music, acting and producing – so much, in fact, that the Guardian’s Alexis Petridis rightly points out that it is “literally impossible to imagine what pop music would be like if he hadn’t existed”.

As he celebrates his birthday today away from the media spotlight, we take a look back at some of the great man’s best loved songs…
