STARS OF THE big and small screens turned out last night for the 69th annual Golden Globe Awards in Los Angeles, where the big winners were The Artist and The Descendants.

Ricky Gervais was at the awards helm again this year and appeared to tone his performance down somewhat on last year’s.

Actor Morgan Freeman was presented with the Cecil B Demille Award for an outstanding contribution to the world of entertainment. Previous award winners include Joan Crawford, Dean Martin, Bing Crosby, Doris Day and Robert Mitchum.

Desperate Housewives star Felicity Huffman and her husband actor William H Macy summed up what many was likely on the minds of many of the award nominees last night in their duet intro to the Best Actress in a TV Series award:
