AN UNKNOWN NOVEL written by famed children’s author Enid Blyton has been discovered in a children’s book centre in the UK.

Mr Tumpy’s Caravan is a 180 page fantasy about a caravan with feet and a mind of its own, according to the Daily Telegraph.

The story also features a princess in a foreign land, a dog-headed dragon and a pet dog known as Bun-Dorg.

The manuscript of the story was among a collection that was auctioned by the Blyton family last year and bought by the Seven Stories childrens’ book centre in Newcastle, England.

The address on the script indicates that it was from Blyton’s early writing career in the 1930s.

It was discovered by archivist Hannah Green with a spokeswoman for the centre telling the Press Association:

It’s really exciting. It’s not a short story. It’s around 200 A4 pages, all written with a typewriter. It’s a very clean manuscript with no spelling mistakes.

Enid Blyton authored nearly 800 books including ‘The Famous Five’ and the ‘Secret Seven’.

Her books sold over 500 million copies worldwide.  Eight million continue to be sold each year despite her having died in 1968.

The manuscript will now be available to view during tours of the Seven Stories which houses a national collection from some of Britain’s leading children’s authors.

Seven Stories will also hold an Enid Blyton exhibition in 2014.
