REDDITOR STEFFEL07 POSTED a heartbreaking photoshop request over the weekend. The request was posted to a subreddit that allows users to ask some Photoshop pros to fix up their damaged or unclear photos.
Steffel’s request was a bit more poignant than a red eye. He asked the community if they could alter a photo of his daughter Sophia who only lived six weeks. He wrote:
“My daughter recently passed away after a long battle in the children’s hospital. Since she was in the hospital her whole life we never were able to get a photo without all her tubes. Can someone remove the tubes from this photo?”
The little girl passed away last week due to complications involving the pressure on her abdomen due to a hepatic hemangioma in her liver. She was apparently on a waiting list for a new liver after she moved to she was moved to a liver-specialist in Cincinnati children’s hospital.
In response, Reddit did their utmost
Some even took an artistic license with little Sophie
Her parents were overwhelmed with the attempts, well-wishes, and sympathies of thousands of complete strangers. Speaking to Buzzfeed, Steffel07 (real name Nathen Steffel) said
I just wanted to reach out to get at least one quality picture. I was amazed how many people responded. We have so many nice pictures now.
