Happy birthday, Jesus! And 16 other people

It’s 2010 (-ish) years since the birth of Jesus Christ – but we don’t even know when his birthday was. Not so with this lot.

IT’S IRONIC THAT given how we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ on December 25 every year – and how the holiday that goes with the celebration often drowns out the birthday celebrations of other people born on that date – Jesus probably wasn’t born on December 25 at all.

In fact, it’s almost certain that he wasn’t born near December at all. It’s generally accepted nowadays that Christmas was fixed for the end of December so as to replace a previous Pagan festival celebrating the winter solstice.

But given that such a theory was initially put forward by Isaac Newton – who, as you’ll see, features in our pick of people who were actually born on December 25 – it might just have been an epic case of sour grapes.

If today is your birthday, then Happy Birthday to you; here are 16 people with whom you share the burden of regularly having your birthday festivities a little bit overshadowed.
