Author Harper Lee's blunt two-word letter to a journalist is excellent

Author got sassy with a journalist asking whether she was “lucid”.

LAST MONTH, IT was announced that Harper Lee will publish a sequel to To Kill A Mockingbird.

Go Set A Watchman follows the book’s heroine Scout as an adult and is scheduled to be released in July.

After the news broke, rumours began to swirl that Lee was coerced into publishing the book with many expressing concern that the author was in ill health.

Journalist Connor Sheets decided to go directly to the source and asked Lee about the controversy surrounding the book’s imminent publication.

Janet Sawyer, owner of the Courthouse Café is worried that you are being manipulated into publishing the book against your long-held wishes. Some other folks worry that you are not mentally sound enough to make decisions about your career. Many worry that maybe you are being exploited.

Lee’s pithy response, however, suggests that she’s very much with it and on top of things.

Bravo, Harper.
