Harry Styles stopped his gig in Mexico to pay emotional tribute to his hometown of Manchester
ALL WEEK, THE city of Manchester has come together following the horrific bombing at the Ariana Grande concert on Monday night.
Manchester’s musicians have been sharing their own messages of sadness and solidarity over the past 36 hours.
And last night Harry Styles was playing a gig in Mexico, and just after things got going he paid his own tribute to the victims, their families and the city
Styles – who grew up just outside Manchester – told the audience he wasn’t going to play his normal, electric set but opt instead for a more sombre acoustic performance. He then held a minute’s silence on stage in their honour, which the crowd also observed (after some helpful translation).
Styles began:
He shared his own experiences with the venue where the attack took place:
“I went to my first show in the arena, and I’ve had some of the best experiences of my life playing in Manchester”

And then let the crowd know that they wouldn’t be getting a full show, while imploring them to choose love:
“I hope you understand, and I hope you’ll join me in a moment of silence for the victims and for the families of the victims in Manchester today. Thank you for understanding. I love you very much.”
