THE TOILET IN Warsaw’s main train station might not be seeing much football action next year, but they’ve still been given a facelift ahead of the European Championships in Poland next year.
The refurbishments are part of a €12 million makeover for the communist-era station, which was built in the seventies. Just weeks ago the restrooms were drab and smelly, and now they feature sleek porcelain toilets and walls decorated with images of the White House, floppy-eared dogs and huge red lips.
“There is no comparing it with the previous toilet,” said cleaning woman Barbara Stopinska, 56. “This is much easier to clean. You really want to work here.”
Irish soccer fans won’t know for a few months yet whether they’ll have a reason to travel to Poland for Euro 2012. The next game in Ireland’s group is at home to Slovakia in September. The tournament is being co-hosted by Poland and Ukraine in June of next year.
