WITH EACH PASSING day, the lines between makeup and art continue to blur.
First we had contouring, a makeup technique used by drag queens for years, but popularised by Kim Kardashian and her ilk.
Next came ‘strobing’, the inverse of contouring, which involves the strategic use of highlighter to catch the light and mimic perfect bone structure.
Then makeup artists took it up to the next level with ‘clown contouring’ – painting themselves up in seemingly crazy-looking clown makeup that blends out to create a flawless base.
Exhausting, right? But they keep on innovating.
Pakistani makeup artist Sahur Saleim has devised ‘henna contour’, in which perfect skin is achieved by painting intricate, henna-like designs all over the face with foundation and highlighter:
The finished product is the same as regular contouring, but the process is just that little bit more beautiful to watch.
