GOOGLE LIKES TO spring seasonal tricks on its users, and its latest tweak is no exception.
Users who type ‘Let It Snow’ into the search bar are rewarded with flakes falling from the top of their screens – until the entire window is fogged with snow.
They can then use the mouse cursor to clean their window (or simply hit the ‘Defrost’ button).
The trick, known as an ‘Easter egg’, is the latest in a line of hidden extras dreamed up by Google programmers. Earlier this year they introduced another where users who typed the phrase “do a barrel roll” sent their screens into a flip.
Obviously overcome with seasonal goodwill, Google staffers have also set up a phone line where users can leave messages for Santa using Gmail’s phone feature (just call 855-34-SANTA). The company said in a blog post:
Santa is never one to fall behind the technological times (word on the street is that Rudolph’s nose was recently upgraded to an energy-efficient LED).
You can also send friends and family a custom phone call from the big man himself. Visit SendaCallFromSanta.com to get dialing…
