Here's your weekend sorted: Jedward go sheep shearing
IT’S ONLY MONDAY morning but we’ve already got your weekend sorted.
Fresh from their Eurovision antics in Baku, Jedward are heading to the hills of Hollywood (that’s Hollywood, Wicklow) for the All-Ireland & International Sheep Shearing & Wool Handling Championships this Saturday.
Yes, the people at Punchestown Racecourse and Hollywood Wool & Country Fair have invited the Grimes’ brothers to an event which is devoted to all sorts of shearing, sheep shows, dog trials, wool handling and pygmy goats.
And for the price of a pint (or two), you could join them for the 60th annual festival.
Taking place at the Punchestown Racecourse and Event Centre on 2 and 3 June, the competition attracts entrants from all over the globe, including female shearers who compete for the title of ‘Queen of the Shears’. Local craft and trade exhibitions, as well as traditional food stalls, will also be set up for the weekend.
Unfortunately, John and Edward’s voices will be in need of a well-earned break so they will not be performing and we’re not even sure if they will have a go at the shearing but here’s hoping.
If you still need more encouragement, check out those adorable pygmy goats.
