Yes, that is a carefully timed picture of him high-fiving himself, captured in the split second it takes for an iPhone to snap a photo.

Why did he do it? Because he was “bored during a hurricane”. Seems fair.

With the tweet garnering over 168,000 retweets in two days, it’s unsurprising that people soon started to try it for themselves, firing their phones in the air and hoping for the best:
