Internet rallies to help dying father see final Hobbit movie
THE FAMILY OF of a dying man has made an appeal for him to see an advance screening of the final Hobbit movie.
In a video posted on YouTube and shared extensively on Twitter and Reddit the family – who live near Chicago – explain how they have a tradition of watching Peter Jackson’s films together.
The last instalment of The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies is due out in December, but the man isn’t expected to make it to the end of the year.
The family has asked the internet to help fulfil their wish.
Those sharing the video have suggested attempting to bring it to the attention of the film’s stars Martin Freeman, Ian McKellan and Benedict Cumberbatch.
There are also suggestions that Tolkien superfan Stephen Colbert might be able to help, and the hashtag is quickly gathering momentum on Twitter.
Hobbit director Peter Jackson is not on Twitter, but the Hobbit movies do have an account which tweets regularly.
