HALLOWEEN CLASSIC Hocus Pocus is almost 25 years old, which is ridiculous as 1993 was merely ten years ago. It was!
Bette Midler (Winnie Sanderson)
So we all know that Bette Midler was an icon in 1993 and is still an icon now. She’s currently starring in the Broadway revival of Hello Dolly, for which she has won a Tony Award. She is an Oscar away from EGOT-ing. C’mon Bette! You can do it!
Sarah Jessica Parker (Sarah Sanderson)
Sex and the City happened five years after Hocus Pocus, and SJP has been a megastar ever since. Right now, she’s working with Sharon Horgan on the HBO series Divorce.
Kathy Najimy (Mary Sanderson)
Najimy’s other famous roles include Sister Mary Patrick in Sister Act, Wendy Keegan in Veep, and Peggy Hill on King of the Hill. Yes, she was Peggy!
Omri Katz (Max Dennison)
Omri here retired from acting in 2002, and judging by his Instagram, is now very into surfing and dogs. Both good things.
Thora Birch (Dani Dennison)
After a successful career as a teenage actor, including roles in American Beauty and Ghost World, Thora also took a break from the biz. She’s back at it now with a role in a new thriller, co-starring Game of Thrones’ Emilia Clarke.
Vinessa Shaw (Allison)
Vinessa is still acting, and has had roles in Eyes Wide Shut, 3:10 To Yuma, and Ray Donovan. Earlier this year, she announced her pregnancy with a gas Hocus Pocus themed Instagram post, and seems to still be pals with Omri and Thora:
Sean Murray (Thackery Binx)
Sean played the human version of Thackery, the cat everyone had a weird crush on, but his voice was dubbed over by actor Jason Marsden.
Since 2003, he has played Timothy McGee on NCIS. Troian Bellisario (AKA Spencer from Pretty Little Liars) is his stepsister. The more you know!
Doug Jones (Billy Butcherson)
Now, in fairness we never really saw poor Doug’s actual face, but he’s actually best known for his prosthetics work.
He frequently collaborates with Guillermo del Toro – he was the creepy pale man in Pan’s Labyrinth and plays another strange creature in the director’s hotly anticipated new film, The Shape of Water.
