LAST WEEK IN the US saw the annual celebration that is National Sandwich Day take place.
Among the festivities and general sandwich enjoyment – one argument broke out among so many people:
Are hot dogs considered sandwiches?
Radio hosts did polls on the matter
Presidential candidates weighed in with their opinions
The debate raged so much that the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council of the United States released a statement on the important matter:
The deep philosophical divide has played out this week following National Sandwich Day on the NBC Today Show, ESPN’s Sportscenter, in NFL locker rooms and across the internet.
They definitively said that hot dogs are NOT sandwiches:
Limiting the hot dog’s significance by saying it’s ‘just a sandwich’ is like calling the Dalai Lama ‘just a guy.
Recently in Ireland, the hot dog has become a talking point of sorts – with Dublin’s Porndog serving up fairly fancy versions
But they are a staple of many a BBQ in this country
And now we know that they are definitely not a sandwich – the official body has spoken from the land of the hot dog
So now.
