A COUPLE RETURNED home to find their house demolished, after a crew of contractors accidentally tore down the wrong building.
The demolition outfit mistakenly destroyed the three-bedroom home in Fort Worth, Texas rather than the condemned structure next door.
David Underwood and his wife put their home on the market recently, with the intention of moving into a lakeside house nearby.
But when they stopped by to mow the lawn last Saturday, they found the home was gone, and only a slab of foundation remained.
Fort Worth authorities had hired the demolition company to raze the condemned building next door, and was billed more than $6,000 for the work.
The condemned structure remains standing.
Underwood is now seeking a settlement from the city. A city spokesman says officials are investigating.
