THIS STRIKING IMAGE OF the amount of sugar contained in a can of Red Bull in the US has gone viral.
The person who posted it claims to have measured out 39g of sugar to exhibit the “dosage in my almost daily Red Bull”.
Some say that the image could be misleading due to the relative size of the scales used (they’re very small), so we decided to take a look for ourselves.
What does the sugar in some of your favourite fizzy drinks actually look like?
We’ll start with the less scary ones (sugar-wise)…
Diet Coke 330ml - 0g sugar
Diet Club Orange 330ml - 4g sugar
Coca-Cola Life 330ml – 22g sugar
Sprite 330ml – 22g sugar
Orangina 250ml – 25g
Red Bull 250ml - 27.5g sugar
San Pellegrino Orange 330ml - 32g sugar
Lucozade Original 380ml – 33.1g sugar
7-Up 330ml – 34.3g sugar
Coke 330ml - 35g sugar
Fanta 330ml – 40g sugar *
Club Orange 330ml - 42.9g sugar*
*The local Costcutter had run out of both Fanta and Club Orange. We bet you couldn’t even tell (not to scale, obviously)
