BUYING AND WEARING bras is annoying enough without worrying about washing them.
It’s rarely as simple as throwing it in the washing machine either (unless you simply do not give a f**k), requiring basins and handwashing liquid and endless hours of drip-drying.
The women of the internet have agreed that it is an arduous, thankless task that most would rather put off until it becomes absolutely necessary:
But how often are you actually supposed to wash your bra?
DailyEdge.ie asked some gals in the know for their opinions on the issue – they’re slightly more conscientious about it than the Twitter masses, but only slightly:
If I put it on clean and then went on a mad night out dancing and hanging out with people who are smoking, then I’d throw it straight in the wash. Otherwise I’d wear it a few times.
I definitely wait too long (unless it’s a sports bra). I think that’s because I only have a few bras I feel are nice?
I have lots of bras but only two I really like, so I mostly alternate between those two. They get about a week of wear each before I wash.
According to Good Housekeeping, unless you’re really sweaty you should wait three or four wears before throwing a bra in the wash. There’s no need to do it any more than that, as over-washing damages the elasticity and shape of the bra.
We think this sounds a little optimistic, so we’re putting it to you, lovely readers: How long do you wear a bra before washing it?
