Hozier reminded the nation just how shameful it is be to labelled 'no craic'
IT CAN BE genuinely hard to describe the word ‘craic’ when you’re quizzed on it by anyone unfamiliar with the term.

It’s not exactly synonymous with ‘fun’ although if you’re really stuck you could use that as a loose translation, but most of us know it’s actually more than that; it’s an aura, a vibe, a uniquely Irish essence, so to speak.
And as Hozier reminded Late Late viewers the length and breadth of Ireland last night, there’s nothing worse than being labelled ‘no craic’ in this country.

With heavy use of air quotes throughout, the Wicklow musician told Ryan Tubridy:
“It is an ancient word like, and we have in our culture this thing about – the worst thing you can be in Ireland is ‘no craic’,” he reminded us.
Cue viewers the length and breadth of the country reassuring themselves that they definitely didn’t fall into that bracket.
“You are a non-person. You are essentially [a non person],” Hozier continued, really hammering home the point.
Ryan nearly fell over himself when he realised how accurate Hozier’s assessment of the term was.
“It’s so true! It’s true!”Ryan yelped.
Oh, and anyone who wasn’t internalising Hozier’s ‘craic’ message as deeply as Ryan clearly did was busy comparing him to fellow guest Joe Wicks.
