THE ICE BUCKET challenge has been with us for two weeks now, and shows no signs of going anywhere.
Today, the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association announced that it had raised one million euro in donations – a phenomenal success for an organisation that relies heavily on public support.
But the people doing the challenge? You guys are OUT OF CONTROL.
Here are the signs:
1. These Irish lads filling an entire family car with cold water… while they’re sitting inside
It involved Dan O’Brien, James Gaule, John Keneally and Chris Roche. Watch Kilkenny man Eamonn Power’s full video on Facebook here.
2. This guy PROPOSING to his girlfriend during her ice bucket challenge
And then dumping water over her anyway
3. The guy who had to be taken to hospital, after getting his pilot friend to dump 1,500litres of water on him from a firefighting plane
The 51-year-old Belgian man was standing at an airfield in Catalonia, Spain when his pal dropped the giant load of water. He is now recovering in hospital.
Someone working at the airport told The Local: “They obviously miscalculated how much water it was.”
4. This guy doing the ice bucket challenge with a shotgun
By standing underneath a giant bag of water and firing the gun in the air
5. This NHL ice hockey player who flew a helicopter to a mountain range, used it to pick up a load of water from a glacier lake, and then had it dumped over his head
Plus filmed it all in HD with a swanky soundtrack.
6. And this guy who did it with his own urine.
He writes: “Yes, it’s real.”
The Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association requested this morning that anyone taking part in the challenge “please do so safely,” adding: “A simple bucket and some ice will do just fine folks.”
