
WANT TO CONFESS but can’t find a church anywhere? Praise the Lord, there’s an app for that. A new “Confession” application for the iPhone and iPad has even received the blessing of a Catholic Bishop.
“Confession: A Roman Catholic App” is the first program for Apple devices created by a US based company called Little iApps.
It is designed for those “who frequent the sacrament and those who wish to return,” according to developer Patrick Leinen in a press release.
The app provides a step by step guide to the sacrament and has so far received the blessing of Bishop Kevin Rhoades of the Fort Wayne-South Bend diocese in the US state of Indiana.
Leinen said he was inspired by Pope Benedict XVI’s call to the faithful to engage in new media for good purposes. He said:
Taking to heart Pope Benedict XVI’s message from last year’s World Communications Address, our goal with this project is to offer a digital application that is truly ‘new media at the service of the Word.
