Can't hack Luther, but need your Idris Elba fix? This new Netflix series might be for you

He’s going for giggles this time.

(No spoilers ahead for the new series of Luther, promise!)

SERIES FOUR OF Luther kicked off this month on the Beeb, with the opening episode leaving many reeling. Like we said, no spoilers, but clowns are cancelled in 2019 (as if they weren’t before this.)

Listen, if it’s too dark for you, fear not. Big man John Luther himself, Idris Elba, has a significantly less gritty series coming to Netflix in March.

Turn Up Charlie sees Idris take up the role of Charlie (as you’d imagine), a struggling DJ and eternal bachelor who becomes nanny to his famous best friend’s, eh, “difficult” daughter, played by Frankie Hervey.

The story’s not a million miles away from his real life, given that he DJs under the moniker Big Driis on occasion. The rest of it? Not so much. I digress …

Anyone else good in it?

Remember Coyote Ugly? What am I talking about, of COURSE you remember the movie with one of the greatest soundtracks of all time. Anyway, Piper Perabo – star of said genre-defining movie – is in it.

Coronation Street and Holby City star Angela Griffin will also have a recurring role in the series.

Guz Khan, Jocelyn Jee Esien, Jade Anouka, Cameron King and Dustin Demri-Burns have also been named as cast members.

Idris co-created the series alongside Gary Reich and the pair also serve as executive producers alongside Tristram Shapeero.

Any trailer, no?
