TONIGHT, THE IFTA Gala Television Awards took place in Dublin.
Red Rock, Catastrophe, Mrs. Brown’s Boys, Connected and 50 Ways To Kill Your Mammy were among the television shows to pick up gongs at the ceremony. (Red Rock won TV Show of the Year and Best Soap.
(You can check out the full list of winners here.)
Here’s what you need to know.
1. Jedward wore ‘Jepic’ sparkly suits and their hair was taller than ever
Let’s be real: their hair puts Ian Madigan’s to shame.
2. Joe Duffy may have seen a ghost on a red carpet.
A cup of sugary tea for Joe, please. He’s had a shock.
3. Meanwhile, Amanda Brunker and Gay Byrne were the definition of #SquadGoals
4. Sharon Horgan won not one, but two IFTAs!
She won Best Female Performance and Best Writer for Soap/Comedy or her work on Channel 4′s Catastrophe. (Back on Channel 4 next Tuesday, don’t you know?)
5. Rosanna Davison went for a sheer black guna
We know we’ve turned into our Mam because our first thought was, “It’s October — she’ll get pneumonia!”
6. Miriam O’Callaghan looked like a goddess, frankly
7. One of the big winners of the night was Brendan O’Carroll, who received a lifetime achievement award
And a standing ovation…
8. Ronan and Storm Keating flew over especially for the occasion
Ronan was on hand to present Best Female Performance while Storm got to take selfies with, er, herself.
The dream.
9. Yes, Vogue Williams was there. No, she wasn’t with Brian McFadden.
She was on hand to present the award for Best Entertainment, which went to Baz Ashmawy for 50 Ways To Kill Your Mammy.
10. Nadia Forde was there and her Nana hung out with Jedward
Her Nana's a good sport.
11. Former Rose of Tralee Maria Walsh was there <3 <3 <3
The closest thing Ireland has to a princess, to be honest.
12. And Red Rock was the night's big winner picking up three of the night's top awards, including TV Show of the Year
Not bad for its first year on telly, eh?
The IFTAs will be screened on TV3 tomorrow night at 9pm.
