A MONKEY FOUND walking around an Ikea store in a dapper shearling coat and nappy was described as “disoriented” yesterday.
“It was the weirdest thing,” one shopper told CBC News after the incident in a Toronto store. “I thought I was going insane.”
Local police said the animal had been in a crate inside a parked car, but had managed to let itself out before going for a wander.
“It was a smart monkey,” Toronto police sergeant Ed Dzingala told the Globe and Mail.
It’s not clear quite why the rhesus macaque was wearing such a dapper outfit. But it’s illegal to own the species in Ontario, so the owner was fined and the monkey taken off to Toronto Animal Services.

Cold, disoriented and needing the toilet. It’s probably fair to say anyone who has ever been to Ikea knows how the monkey felt.
