Quiz: IKEA product or Swedish slang for masturbation?

SWEDEN’S NATIONAL Association for Sexuality Education (NFSU) recently held a contest to find a new word for female masturbation.

The NFSU announced the winner - ’klittra’ – last week after an online poll. It now wants the word to be entered into the dictionary, which until now had no specific term for masturbation by a woman (but several for men).

However, a number of the other slang suggestions have also been published. To the Irish ear, they sound suspiciously familiar…

Answers: FLICKOGA is a duvet cover; PYSSLA are beads; GÄSPA is a sheet set; GURLI is a cushion cover. Among the suggestions for a new slang word for female masturbation were: Klittra, Pulla, Runka, Scrolla, Selfa, Fittra, Muffa, Vibba, DJ:a, Jingla.
