Imelda May told the most Irish family holiday story on Graham Norton last night

A reminder that you can’t camp underneath the Eiffel Tower.

OUR VERY OWN Imelda May was the musical guest on last night’s The Graham Norton Show.

Following her performance, Imelda was invited to the couch to regale the audience with perhaps the most Irish family holiday story ever.

It all kicked off with Graham cheekily asking if Imelda was headed to Paris any time soon…

The May family have been to Paris, haven’t you? I love this story. It’s so Irish.

Imelda preceded her story by noting that she has enough “crazy family stories” to fill a book and offered Guy Ritchie the chance to adapt it into a movie.

Always be hustling.

She went on to explain that her parents used to regularly bring the whole family on holidays

We camped all over the world. We had this giant big orange tent that slept seven of us.

As Imelda explained, things didn’t quite go to plan on their trip to Paris.

I remember we woke up to massive… It was crazy and it was noisy and my Dad was getting dragged out by the gendarme, by the police. There was whistles going and my Mam was saying, ‘Get your hands off him!’
My Mam had her little stove out doing breakfast. My Dad was saying, “Youse are very uptight altogether.” And apparently you’re not allowed to camp underneath the Eiffel Tower.

!!!

Honestly, we would watch that film. Just cast Colm Meaney as the Dad.

Beats staying in a caravan down the country, though, right?
