In photos: BMW unveils new... police car range
GERMAN CAR MANUFACTURER BMW has released details of its new police car range ahead of the vehicles” presentation at the General Police Equipment Exhibition and Conference in Leipzig next month.
The closed conference is “exclusively for members of authorities” ranging from police and border guards, to prison services and special forces – and the organisers say that visitors will only be granted access on presentation of an official authority ID.
BMW says that its range is based on current series production models and includes two entirely new vehicles built for use by police, the BMW X3 and the new BMW 3 Series Touring.
The latter, which is not due on the market until the end of September, “offers significantly more interior space, enhanced functionality and variability as well as practice-oriented standard features,” according to BMW. “These are complemented by intelligent networking of driver assistance systems and mobility services.”
It can also be fitted with additional warning devices for use by police on motorways.
Meanwhile, the BMW 7 Series High Security features “an armouring that is not even visible to the most practiced eye” with a high level of personal safety and comfort.
The electric BMW i3 Concept was designed particularly for use in areas such as airports, harbours and urban areas, where zero emissions are particularly desirable.
