In photos: Setting up camp at Electric Picnic 2011
THOUSANDS OF MUSIC fans have descended on the Electric Picnic site in Stradbally, Co Laois today as the three-day festival got underway.
Almost 1,000 people set out from Tallaght Stadium in Dublin this morning to raise money for Temple Street Children’s Hospital by cycling the 80 kilometres to Stradbally.
The 2Wheels Tour de Picnic event – one of the biggest leisure charity cycles in the country, according to organisers – was supported with a €30,000 donation from the Vodafone Ireland Foundation. Brian McDermott from 2Wheels said that the event has grown from 45 cyclists two years ago, to almost 1000 in 2011.
