This Instagram account is hilariously calling out brands over their lack of diversity
IF YOU DON’T follow Liz Giorgetta or have in fact never heard of her, that’s about to change.
Sister of fit-fluencer Madalina Giorgetta, Liz regularly calls out diet culture, body shamers and exclusionary feminism on her timeline.
Her latest mission? Highlighting fashion brands who remain non-committal when it comes to diversity and representation.
Liz has started a new Instagram account, aptly called @divershittie, to call out brands who only use white, straight-sized models to advertise their products.
Given that she’s from Australia, Liz has mainly been focusing on Aussie brands like Hello Molly. However, other brands that have faced Liz’s wrath include Muscle Nation and your fave Insta hun’s knicker brand, Lounge Underwear.
“Having a vagina doesn’t give you a free pass to do whatever the f**k you want and expect support from women because of hashtag feminism,” Liz explained in her stories.
Accounts like this, and petitions such as Yasmin O’Connor’s one appealing to the Irish media to feature more diversity on magazine covers, remain as important as ever in 2019. If you’ve found yourself slacking on your New Year’s Resolution as of late, now is a good time to check in with yourself and see how inter-sectional your feminism is.
